Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Coastline ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Description of service

Coastline is a financial planning application for iOS that helps users model retirement scenarios, run projections, and analyze financial strategies. The App runs entirely on your device and does not require an internet connection or user account.

Not financial advice

Coastline is an educational and planning tool, not a financial advisor. The projections, calculations, simulations, and analyses provided by the App are based on mathematical models and assumptions that may not reflect actual market conditions, tax law, or your personal financial situation.

Nothing in the App constitutes investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or financial product. The App's outputs — including Monte Carlo simulations, tax bracket analyses, Roth conversion models, Social Security optimizations, and FIRE calculations — are estimates intended for informational and educational purposes only.

You should consult a qualified financial advisor, tax professional, or attorney before making financial decisions based on information from the App.

Accuracy of information

Coastline uses publicly available tax tables, federal poverty level guidelines, and standard financial formulas. While we make reasonable efforts to keep these current, we do not guarantee that all information is accurate, complete, or up to date. Tax laws, government programs, and financial regulations change frequently.

The App's projections are based on assumptions you provide (such as expected returns, inflation rates, and withdrawal rates). Different assumptions will produce different results. Past performance of markets does not guarantee future results.

Your data

All data you enter into Coastline is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your data and cannot recover it if you delete the App or lose your device. You are responsible for backing up your data using the App's export feature if you wish to preserve it.

Subscriptions and purchases

Coastline offers optional paid subscriptions through the Apple App Store. Subscription terms, pricing, and billing are governed by Apple's terms and your agreement with Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings.

Refund requests for App Store purchases should be directed to Apple, as they process all transactions.

Intellectual property

Coastline and its content, features, and functionality are owned by Coastline and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Coastline and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the App.

In particular, we are not liable for financial losses resulting from decisions you make based on the App's outputs. The App provides modeling tools; financial decisions and their consequences are your responsibility.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, that calculations will be perfectly accurate, or that the App will meet your specific financial planning needs.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
